CENTRAL HIDROELECTRICA ANTONIO JOSE DE SUCRE EN MACAGUA
En plena Ciudad Guayana hay un elemento de la ingeniería moderna que impacta a todo el que pasa por allí, se trata de un componente más que hace de esta tierra prodigiosa un lugar perfecto para hacer turismo. Es el Complejo Hidroeléctrico Macagua. Pocas ciudades en el planeta cuentan con el privilegio de tener una represa en medio de sus avenidas. Se trata de un atractivo turístico único, diferente y atrayente que conquista el ojo de propios y extraños, y Puerto Ordaz lo ostenta en su territorio. Ubicada en plena avenida Leopoldo Sucre Figarella, en la unión entre Puerto Ordaz y San Félix, este complejo guarda un potencial turístico incalculable. A lo largo del año, miles y miles de visitantes llegan al lugar para divisar desde la carretera la represa citadina. La Casa de Máquinas I de la Central Hidroeléctrica Antonio José de Sucre en Macagua, fue la primera planta construida en los llamados saltos inferiores del río Caroní, localizada a 10 kilómetros de su desembocadura en el río Orinoco, en Ciudad Guayana, estado Bolívar. Fue un aprovechamiento que no requirió la formación del lago para su operación. Alberga en su Casa de Máquinas I, 6 unidades tipo Francis, cada una con una capacidad nominal promedio de 64.430 kilovatios. Construida en el período 1956 1961, tiene una capacidad instalada total de 372 MW. Inaugurado en enero de 1.997, estas dos casas de máquinas permitieron aumentar la generación firme de CVG EDELCA en 13.200 GWh. Para la gente de Sochi, la inauguración de los Juegos de Invierno era una celebración muy esperada. No todo el mundo ha conseguido un asiento en la ceremonia, las últimas entradas se han vendido por más de 600 euros. Pero esta noche muchos han venido aquí al centro de Sochi para verla en directo por las pantallas.<br /><br />En apenas unas semanas esta localidad del mar Negro se pone en el centro de la actualidad y casi nadie quiere perderse este gran acontecimiento único para sus habitantes y que tardará en repetirse.<br /><br />“Hemos venido con toda la familia. Es un gran evento para nuestra familia, para la ciudad, para el país. Esto solamente pasa una vez y tienes que venir a verlo aunque sea de esta manera”, decía un padre de familia con su hijo.<br /><br />“Hemos estado esperando estos Juegos durante siete años y ahora la espera ha terminado. Realmente disfrutamos todo lo que está pasando”, añadía uno de los asistentes.<br /><br />“Yo he esquiado toda mi vida, era una atleta. Era la primera de mi equipo en la empresa”, decía una señora mayor.<br /><br />La alegría y la euforia de los habitantes de Sochi se ve en cada esquina y los Juegos Olímpicos no han hecho más que empezar.
