Welcome to Montevideo, Uruguay. This is a City Walking Tour in 4K around Old Town or Ciudad Vieja, Plaza de la Independencia, Artigas Mausoleum, Palacio Salvo, Peatonal Sarandí and Mercado del Puerto by Wanna Walk.
Montevideo is the southernmost capital city in the Americas and the biggest city in a charming little country called Uruguay. We start walking from the Artigas Mausoleum in Plaza de la Independencia, in the neighbourhood of Ciudad Vieja or Old Town. From this place we can watch beautiful art deco buildings, colonial homes and landmarks including the towering Palacio Salvo and neoclassical performance hall Solís Theatre and Mercado del Puerto, a popular port steakhouses market. This is a 4K Virtual Walking Tour of Montevideo, Uruguay.
Montevideo is situated on the southern coast of the country, on the northeastern bank of the Rio de la Plata. The city was established in 1724. The city is the financial and cultural hub of a larger metropolitan area with a population of around 2 million (Uruguay's population is about 3.5 million).

City Walking Tour Montevideo Uruguay
Best starting point is the Plaza Independencia (Montevideo main square). From here you can see the remains of the city walls and town gate, which is the beginning of the original Old Town. This is a nice area to walk around in. From "old to new" parts of the city. Some places to go shopping, a few places to eat as well. Clean area with a lot of people out and about. Locals and tourists all mesh in this area. I found it to be worth the stroll down the street to check it out. Good spot for some pics!
There are two explanations for the name MONTEVIDEO: First comes from the Portuguese "Monte vide eu" which means "I see a mountain" and the second could be the location of the city in a map as "Monte VI De Este a Oeste" meaning "The sixth mountain from east to west".

Let's walk in Peatonal Sarandi where we can find street markets and shops. It’s an amazing place to immerse yourself in Uruguayan culture. Then we visit the Old Market where you can eat the most typical Uruguay's foods and listen Montevideo's traditional music. This is pretty close to the Buquebus port and one of the busiest areas of the city.

Uruguay Dünya Kupası finalinde Arjantin’i 4-2 yenen Uruguay Milli Takımı şampiyon oldu. Dolayısıyla ilk futbol dünya kupası şampiyonu da Uruguay dır.
Dünya Kupası tarihindeki maçlarda rakibini ısıran tek Futbolcu Uruguay’lı Luis Suarez’dir.
Bütün şehirlerde sürücülerin park etmesine yardım etmek için maaş alan belediye görevlileri vardır.
Şehirde üstünde hoparlör bulunan araç dolaştırarak reklam yapmak çok yaygındır.
Düello yapmak 1992 yılında yasaklanmıştır.
Deniz aslanı görebileceğiniz ender ülkelerden biridir. Sahillerindeki balıkçıların yanında balık kapabilmek için deniz aslanları bekliyor.
Müzeler ücretsizdir.
Her yıl 67 bin ton şarap üretimi yapılmaktadır.

Music: https://www.bensound.com
8 Best reasons to retire to Uruguay! Living in Uruguay! Uruguay in many ways resembles a European destination rather than a South American one. It's largely unknown among potential North American expats, and you won’t find many of them living here. But recently, in the past few years, more and more North Americans are beginning to take a closer look at Uruguay. Would Uruguay be your retirement destination?

What’s not to love about Uruguay? The nation is not only home to an inviting cultural heritage and diverse natural beauty, but it’s routinely praised as South America’s least corrupt and most democratic nation. However, it's always good to remember these 10 Things NOT to do in Uruguay to avoid troubles.
1. Don’t Stay on the Beaches
There’s nothing wrong with spending a few days lounging and enjoying the scenery, but you’ll be remiss if you don’t take the opportunity to travel inland and enjoy all the cultural and natural beauty of the country. It’s absolutely worth exploring.
2. Don’t Drop Your Guard in Montevideo
While the capital city isn’t more dangerous than any other major city throughout the world, it still has its share of crime. When you’re in tourist-heavy locations, it’s a good idea to be on the lookout for pickpockets and small time criminals.
3. Don’t Park Anywhere
Urban areas in Uruguay are known for car break-ins, so it’s best not to leave your rental car unattended on the street. Montevideo has several pay parking options that will provide for the safety of your vehicle throughout your stay.
4. Don’t Be Put Off By the Hello Kiss
Don’t be surprised if you meet someone and find them leaning in to kiss you on the cheek. Men and women alike will greet you in this way, so it’s best just to go with it.
5. Don’t Shop at the Same Store Over and Over
The prices of goods can vary from place to place in Uruguay, so try to explore the area and visit a series of different shops. You might find that some shops have better prices on various items.
6. Don’t Just Wander Into the Ocean
In the Beaches, lifeguard towers often have flags hanging outside. A red flag indicates the most dangerous conditions and means you should probably stick to sunning yourself rather than taking a dip.
7. Don’t Give Money to Street Kids in Montevideo
They might look friendly and charming, but if you hand over a few bucks, you could be feeding addiction. One of the hardest hit segments of the population are young kids who beg on the street to get cash for their next fix.
8. Don’t Go Without Learning Some Spanish
It’s best to learn a few phrases of Spanish to get through most interactions. Most people in Uruguay will be very patient with you, so don’t be nervous about trying the language even if you’re not fluent.
9. Don’t Go at Any Time of the Year
As gorgeous as it is, Uruguay is also home to its fair share of natural disasters, as well. Be sure to watch the weather before you go, and in the event of an emergency, just pay attention to the local authorities.
10. Don’t Leave Home Without Some Cash
The official currency of Uruguay is the Uruguayan peso. The value of 30 pesos is about one American dollar. As a result, most places love doing business with the dollar, and you can often negotiate the price of certain goods.
Where do you want to know what not to do in next?
