Bio for Dr. Jason Alster:
I grew up in a suburb outside of NYC in a family full of healthcare professionals and with a grandfather who was a PhD physical chemist. I basically was destined to do something with my science background and ultimately settled on pursuing dentistry. I currently live in NYC with my wife and son and we love just hanging out around Central Park going out to East Hampton, eating great food and traveling together.

College - The George Washington University
Graduate School Attended-The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
Medical School - NYU College of Dentistry
Residency - Tufts Medical Center/Hackensack University Medical Center
Fellowship-Part-time fellowship in Implant Surgery and Prosthetics
Typical Day in the life of a Cosmetic Dentist:
Day to day can vary greatly. However, it always starts with a morning huddle, hygiene patient exams, surgery, general dentistry or cosmetic procedures and some days I teach the residents at the hospital. Lunch gets thrown in there at some point.
Residency training:
Residency can range from 1-6 years depending on the specialty and how much training you would to do.
What type of advice do you give to those aspiring to be a Cosmetic Dentist:
Never give up. There’s always a way to get the job done!
3 Things that Excite Dr. Jason Alster about being a Cosmetic Dentist:
Bridging the gap between dentistry and medicine. It’s important to understand that as dentists we have an opportunity to improve the overall health and wellness of our patients. Also, most people view dentistry as being a little archaic, but when I show them the technology available they immediately realize how far we’ve come to improve the patient experience.
