La visita ufficiale fa seguito allincontro che lAmministrazione Comunale, nella persona dellAssessore al Turismo, Leonardo Lonigro, ha tenuto nel mese di ottobre a Roma allorché ha invitato ufficialmente lAmbasciatore a visitare la nostra realtà territoriale. Presenti allincontro - oltre allAssessore Lonigro - il Consigliere regionale Pina Marmo, il Consigliere Provinciale Nino Cicciarelli, lAssessore Giovanna Bruno, il Dirigente rag. Vito Patruno e il presidente della ProLoco lingegnere Cesare Cristiani. Presenti anche il Vice Presidente Michele Guida e la Dottoressa Claudia Nicolamarino (interprete) che ha accompagnato gli ospiti nella due giorni di permanenza ad Andria. La visita dellAmbasciatore rientra in un progetto teso alla firma di un protocollo d?intesa con lobiettivo di gemellare Andria e la città dominicana di San Francisco De Macoris, per scambi commerciali, turistici e sportivi. Dopo il saluto ufficiale delle autorità cittadine, la visita è proseguita nel centro storico dove lAmbasciatore ha avuto modo di apprezzare il nostro patrimonio artistico e architettonico sottolineando lordine e la pulizia di strade ed edifici. Nella stessa serata ha visitato il Museo del Confetto. I rapporti commerciali auspicati sono finalizzati a creare uno scambio diretto con le materie prime provenienti dalla Repubblica Dominicana come cacao e caffè. Nella giornata di sabato la delegazione dominicana ha visitato Castel del Monte, sito Unesco, e alcune delle aziende del territorio che hanno omaggiato lAmbasciatore con i prodotti tipici del territorio come olio, vino, pasta fresca, prodotti caseari che potrebbero trovare proprio nella Repubblica Dominicana nuovi sbocchi commerciali. Salutando la città, lAmbasciatore ha ringraziato le autorità e le aziende per laccoglienza ricevuta, promettendo di ritornare nel mese di Dicembre con lauspicio di avviare concretamente il rapporto tra le due città.
