Juan Alberto Cohen Sander nació en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, el 14 de junio de 1960.
Formación
Es economista, político, congresista y dirigente social y deportivo.
Se graduó de Economía en la Universidad Pedro Henríquez Ureña (1983) y ha realizado tres maestrías: en Economía en la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (1986), en Ciencias Políticas en la Universidad Pedro Henríquez Ureña (1995) y en Bioética en la Universidad del Istmo de Guatemala (2019).
Además, se especializó en finanzas por el Instituto Arthur D. Little de Cambridge, Massachusetts, (1989) y realizó estudios en alta dirección de empresas en la Universidad de Harvard (2007) y en el Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2010).
Experiencia Laboral
Inició su trayectoria profesional ocupando diversas posiciones en la Corporación de Empresas Estatales (CORDE) (1979-1982); y en el área bancaria en Bancrédito (1982-1984) y en el Banco BHD. También colaboró en el proyecto Agrícola Melonero de Fertilizantes Santo Domingo (FERSAN), en ABC Dominicana (1984-1986) y en el Grupo Moya (1987-1997).
Durante más de una década manejó importantes medios de comunicación. Fue Gerente General del Grupo Omnimedia, desde la fundación del periódico Diario Libre en el 2000 hasta el 2010, cuando pasó a Multimedios del Caribe, también como Gerente General.
Presidió la Federación Dominicana de Golf (2008 -2014) y es el actual Presidente del Partido Nacional Voluntad Ciudadana (PNVC), donde ha militado por más de 30 años.
Desde el 2010 hasta la actualidad ha sido Diputado por la República Dominicana ante el PARLACEN, participando como presidente de la Comisión de Educación, Deportes, Cultura, Ciencia y Tecnología; de la Comisión de Paz, Derechos Humanos y Seguridad Ciudadana; y de la Comisión de Turismo.
Iniciativas más Destacadas de Juan Cohen Sander
Creador del primer foro para la educación como presidente de la comisión de educación, de cultura, deporte, ciencia y tecnología del Parlamento Centro Americano (Parlacen) realizado en República Dominicana, y ya institucionalizado a nivel Regional.
Evaluación de la política educativa del programa de educación centro americana y de Republica Dominicana, donde se recomendó una transformación del programa educativo regional para incluir la psicopedagogía y la Bioética en la formación educativa, basado en la Bioeducación, termino innato del autor que lo expone en su libro ´´Biopolítica y Bioeducación´´ en la reforma educativa de Centro américa y Republica Dominicana.
Creador del primer foro por el deporte regional, leyes de incentivo a la inversión privada en el deporte, Realizado en Guatemala, cuando fue presidente de la comisión de derechos humanos del Parlacen y que contó con los representantes de los distintos comité Olímpicos, y los diferentes ministros de deportes que componen el Parlacen.
Creador del 1er foro sobre seguridad Ciudadana. ¨Un Compromiso de todos¨ Realizado en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, con la participación de invitados internacionales de los países de Centro América e importantes panelista de Republica Dominicana.
Realización del foro ´´Turismo Regional Multidestino¨ como presidente de la comisión de turismo del Parlacen realizado en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.
OTROS:
1-Como presidente de la fundación Adastra América, auspicio sobre los foros sobre la educación, nuevo modelo.
2-Como dirigente deportivo es presidente del club juvenil los picos, y fundador.
-Ha recibido destacados reconocimientos y distinciones entre ellos la orden ¨Francisco Morazán¨ del parlamento centro americano (PARLACEN).
