Tristemente escenas como estas, se están haciendo casi rutinarias en Caracas. Nuevamente se escucharon fuertes detonaciones en lo que se supone fue un enfrentamiento entre bandas delictivas y cuerpos policiales en la Cota 905, a plena luz del día. El colega @rcamachovzla quien cubre la fuente de Sucesos, ha reportado que se trataría de antisociales de bandas armadas de los conocidos como “El Coqui” y “Vampi” contra funcionarios de las FAES. Extraoficialmente dos delincuentes habrían sido abatidos. #22sep #noticias #ElChamainforma

Caracas is a city with a population over three million, crammed into a valley in northern Venezuela. Over 2000-2010, Venezuela's oil revenues did not compensate for mismanagement of the city. The city's infrastructure deteriorated and Caracas residents are increasingly entrenched in slum areas. As of 2011, there was still no clear plan regarding how crime, poverty and severe traffic problems could be eradicated from the city.

The city of Caracas receives preferential treatment in Venezuela's economy, as Venezuela's oil-generated revenues are used to subsidise the city's development. Caracas' population growth is driven entirely by natural increase, as the city is too packed to accommodate further immigration. Housing in Caracas accounts for a relatively small share of the household budget but for damaging reasons. The majority of dwellings in the city are located in the slum areas, which are cheap.

The video highlights some of the popular landmark attractions. The trip took place in November 2013, before the early 2014 riots, protests, deaths that is currently happening not just in Caracas, but in multiple cities in Venezuela. Places that I've visited in the city, will never look the same.

La vida de junior un muchacho joven que a pesar q sufrió mucho y su madre prefirió aún hombre que a su propio hijo, fue echado para adelante a pesar de las pruebas que le puso la vida las superó. Hoy en día junior es un gran deportista profesional. Recuerden que el futuro se lo pone con disciplina constancia y mucha fe en Dios y en ti mismo.

Welcome to the world's tallest slum: poverty-ridden Venezuela's Tower of David. Squatters took over this very unfinished 45-story skyscraper in the early 1990s, and they've been there ever since. The tower was originally intended to be a symbol of Caracas' bright financial future, complete with a rooftop helipad, but construction stopped because of a banking crisis and the sudden death of the tower's namesake, David Brillembourg.

Today, as the government is grappling with a citywide housing shortage, the tower is a stark monument to what could have been in the country's crime-plagued capital. The tower is dogged by accusations of being a hotbed of crime, drugs and corruption. But to residents, many of whom have spent their entire lives there, it's just home.

Watch as Vocativ climbs the tower and gains the rare in-depth access to residents' daily lives inside this unique and sinister establishment.

Few cameras have been allowed into the depths of the tower. It is an experience not to be missed.

Venezuela is in the grip of a worsening crisis, as President Nicolas Maduro and opposition leader Juan Guaidó battle for power.

The population is struggling with hyperinflation, power cuts and shortages of food and medicine.

Among those affected are the 3m people who live in and around the capital Caracas.

Moving from place to place has become a daily chore, as the BBC's James Reynolds reports as he joins passengers on one of the city's buses.
