Im russischen Angriffskrieg in der Ukraine spitzt sich die Lage der Bevölkerung in umkämpften Städten weiter zu. Am Dienstag soll es einen neuen Anlauf für Fluchtkorridore unter anderem aus Kiew und der belagerten Hafenstadt Mariupol geben. Die Angriffe und Kämpfe gingen 13 Tage nach dem russischen Einmarsch weiter.

Selenskyj: «Ich bleibe in Kiew»

Der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj will trotz der Kämpfe um Kiew die Hauptstadt nicht verlassen. «Ich bleibe in Kiew», sagte er in einer am Montagabend veröffentlichten Videobotschaft. Er verstecke sich nicht und habe vor niemandem Angst. Man werde weiter mit Russland sprechen, sagte Selenskyj. «Wir werden auf Verhandlungen bestehen, bis wir einen Weg finden, unseren Menschen zu sagen: So kommen wir zum Frieden.» Jeder Tag des Kampfes schaffe «bessere Bedingungen» für die Ukraine. «Eine starke Position. Um unsere Zukunft zu sichern. Nach diesem Krieg.»

Behörden: Mehr als zehn Tote bei Angriffen auf ukrainische Stadt Sumy

Bei Luftangriffen auf die nordostukrainische Großstadt Sumy wurden den örtlichen Behörden zufolge mehr als zehn Menschen getötet, darunter auch Kinder. «In einigen Ortschaften wurden Wohngebäude bombardiert. Und fast im Zentrum von Sumy wurden mehrere Häuser durch einen Bombentreffer zerstört», teilte der Chef der Gebietsverwaltung, Dmytro Schywyzkyj, mit. Die Angaben waren nicht unabhängig zu prüfen.

Lage in Mariupol ernst

In der von Russland belagerten Hafenstadt Mariupol spitzt sich die Lage nach Angaben des Stadtrats Kommune weiter zu. «Es gibt keine Straße ohne kaputte Fenster, zerstörte Wohnungen oder Häuser.» Die Stadt sei ohne Strom, Wasser und Gas. Mariupol liegt nahe der sogenannten Kontaktlinie zwischen prorussischen Separatisten und ukrainischer Armee im Verwaltungsbezirk Donezk. Die Stadt hat strategisch große Bedeutung.

Russland bietet neue Feuerpause am Dienstag an

Russland bietet nach Angaben seines UN-Botschafters am Dienstag eine erneute Feuerpause zur Öffnung humanitärer Korridore in der Ukraine an. Wassili Nebensja sagte vor dem UN-Sicherheitsrat, am Vormittag sollten humanitäre Korridore in Kiew, Tschernihiw, Sumy, Charkiw und Mariupol geöffnet werden. Wie schon beim Angebot am Vortag sprach das russische Verteidigungsministerium von einem anschließenden Transport nach Russland. Der ukrainische US-Botschafter Serhij Kyslyzja warf Russland vor, mit Routen nur über Russland und Belarus den neuen Anlauf zu untergraben. Nebensja sagte, es werde auch eine Evakuierung in Richtung ukrainischer Städte westlich von Kiew angeboten.

Russian soldiers hit the Ukrainian capital Kiev

Ukraine on Wednesday accused Russia of risking nuclear catastrophe after vowing to defend Europeans largest atomic plant in Energodar.

Defenders are building barricades of trucks and protesting close to the plant to stop the advance of Russian troops.

Russia claimed on Tuesday to be in control of the area but this is disputed by the Ukrainian side.

Ukraine government official Anton Gerashchenko warned: “Because of Putin's madness, Europe is again on the brink of a nuclear catastrophe.’

He said “the city where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe is located is preparing for a battle with the invaders.
“The nuclear power plant is guarded by the heroes of the National Guard of Ukraine. They won't give up! There will be a fight. Shells will fire next to the nuclear power plant.

“They will not be able to break through the concrete shell of the reactor, but they will definitely damage transformers, turbines and other equipment necessary for the safety of the nuclear power plant.

“An accident can happen like at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant or the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Russian generals - think again!”

He called on them: “Don't create conditions for a new Chernobyl. Radiation does not know nationalities, one does not spare anyone!”
