![Mother Africa - History Of Africa with Zeinab Badawi [Episode 1]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ETnIsBnNRr0/maxresdefault.jpg)

In this first episode, Zeinab Badawi travels across the continent examining the origins of humankind; how and why we evolved in Africa - Africa is the greatest exporter of all time: every human being originated in Africa.
During her journey Zeinab is granted rare access to the actual bones of one of the most iconic discoveries in the field of palaeontology, ‘Lucy' in Ethiopia, or as she is known in Amharic, ‘Dinkenesh’, which means ‘you are marvellous’.
Zeinab also spends time in Tanzania with a tribe that is unique in the world because they live in the way our ancestors did, as hunters of big animals and gatherers. This community who have rarely been filmed provide a fascinating insight into how we have lived for most of our history.

UNESCO: Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - 2008
URL: https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/p....olyphonic-singing-of
Description: The Aka Pygmies living in the south-west region of the Central African Republic have developed a distinctive vocal musical tradition, which involves a complex type of contrapuntal polyphony based on four voices, mastered by all members of the Aka community.
Music and dance form an integral part of Aka rituals including ceremonies related to the inauguration of new encampments, hunting and funerals. Unlike polyphonic systems that are written down in notation, the vocal tradition of the Aka Pygmies allows for spontaneous expression and improvisation. During performances, each singer can change his or her voice to produce a multitude of variations, creating the impression that the music is continuously evolving. The songs are generally accompanied by various percussion and string instruments, each one played for a specific occasion.Among the most common instruments are a local type of drum (enzeko), a harp-like instrument known as the geedale-bagongo, and the single-string bow (mbela). The songs perpetuate essential knowledge for the cohesion of the group and the preservation of community values. The dances are performed to the accompaniment of vibrant hand-clapping. Depending on the ritual, some dances feature men only, while others may be executed by couples or by male and female solo dancers. Relying entirely on oral transmission, the Aka Pygmies have succeeded in preserving their musical knowledge within the community by including children in rituals from an early age.
The lifestyle of the Aka Pygmies has been drastically disrupted due to the changes currently taking place in the Central African Republic. The scarcity of game resulting from deforestation, the rural exodus and the folklorization of their heritage for the tourist industry are the principal factors contributing to the gradual disappearance of many of their traditional customs, rituals and skills.

Africa Lyrics
(David Paich/Jeff Porcaro)
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in, 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
(Instrumental)
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(Ah, it's gonna take the time)
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

Many thanks to Afia Tours (https://www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for taking on this amazing village food day trip in Ghana (Note: I paid for this tour, it is not sponsored, but I fully recommend it - it was awesome)!
It was about a three hour drive from Accra to get to the village. The village was somewhere in the central Cape Coast region of Ghana (however no near to the coast, but much inland). The people from the village were so incredibly friendly, and it was one of the most genuinely hospitable and friendly villages I’ve ever visited. It was an honor and privilege to spend time at the village.
As we arrived, they had already started cooking some Ghanaian food specialties. One the menu, we had banku with okra soup, fufu (a staple of West African food) with palm nut soup, and finally fried plantains with beans. All the food was incredibly good, and it was one of the best bowls of fufu I ate during my entire time in Ghana.
Thanks again to Afia Tours (https://www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for setting this up!

There are some things that have been found that are unsettling, and someof those unsettling things that have been found were found in Africa. At about 30.3 million km squared, or 11.7 million square miles, Africa is the world’s second largest and second-most populous continent. Given the sheer size of the place, it’s no wonder there have been all sorts of strange things found buried within its borders! These are unsettling discoveries in Africa nobody can explain!

Lyrics:
Oooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehh
You're a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
Get back in the saddle
You're on the front line
Everyone's watching
You know it's serious
We're getting closer
This isn't over
The pressure's on
You feel it
But you got it all
Believe it
When you fall get up, oh oh
If you fall get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
'Cause this is Africa

The Senegalese-American rapper Akon, who spent most of his life in the US, still holds Africa close to his heart.
In one RECOMMENDED videos ? https://bit.ly/2UCjj5Q
SUBSCRIBE here ? https://goo.gl/jYw6so
Akon appeared on the Drink Champs podcast with Noreaga and DJ EFN to talk about his career trajectory and why Black people should start corporations in Africa.
The Senegalese entertainer rose to prominence in 2004 with his chart-topping single, “Locked Up.” He then had a lucrative music career, which included signing pop star Lady Gaga before starting Akon Lighting Africa, a project aimed at providing solar-powered electricity to the continent, in 2014.
During the interview, Noreaga asked Akon why Black people should invest in Africa. He responded, “We have a tendency to blame the White man for everything that’s gone wrong. That’s how a majority of the African-Americans in America feel, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true . . . with the circumstances around us that’s why we believe that.”
Akon explained how Black people have built up America culturally but still own next to nothing. “This is the opportunity now to own that in which we’re complaining about. In Africa, it’s a clean slate. You can build that empire there, and you can build that infrastructure there. [Black people] already have the information and are educated on it
because we’ve done it here and made billions for corporations.”
The other difference he noted was how quickly Blacks could profit from their investment in the motherland. “Africa’s the only place in the world where Black people can go and build Fortune 500 companies from scratch within five years.”
